With Friends Like These...

I was scanning the "Scholars" home page and noticed some new articles defending Steven Jones from charges of anti-Semitism, and couldn't help but notice the irony in two separate articles, both from rense.com. The first from Joel Skousen (emphasis mine):

Goldberg is a conspiracy debunker whose business is to go through the most bizarre of conspiracy theories so as to make it easy to debunk them. Naturally, he focuses upon the small minority of conspiratorialists who believe this is all a Zionist conspiracy, and he plays it up as if everyone who believes in a globalist NWO conspiracy is also an anti-Semite. The origin of anti-Semitic conspiracy movement was Willis Carto's Liberty Lobby.

The second article, with the not so subtle title "Are Zionists Behind Banning Of Truthful 911 Scientist?" (this is where the irony comes in) is by Chris Bollyn, the reporter for the American Free Press, founded by none other than the very Willis Carto they were talking about:

After interviewing Jones for a brief 20 minutes, Fabrizio said goodbye to Jones and turned the remainder of the hour over to a discussion of conspiracy theories with two Jewish professors, a Robert Goldberg from the University of Utah and Gary Fine from Northwestern.

Gee, I don't know how anyone could get the idea that the 9/11 conspiracy movement could be connected to anti-semitism...

Did anyone read the two-part royal ass-stopming of Uncle Fetzer at the American Thinker?

There's more. Oh, yes. There's much more.

Take a seat, truthers, and prepare to have your world collapse.

The anti-semitic angle that keeps coming up is so obviously a case of The Lady doth protest too much.

Or that some of the "unimpeachable sources" that truthers like Fetzer, Avery, Jones and their disciples use to peddle their ridiculous religion are, in fact, anti-Semites and neo Nazis.

Truth hurts, joanbasil. You made your nutter bed with these lunatic fringe whackjobs. You deal with them.

Oops! Here's that second part to said ass-stomping.

We are all anxiously awaiting the Truther's point by point response.

Which won't come, since they've got nothing left after JR Dunn is finished.

Oh yes, I must do everything to protect my Zionist masters, otherwise they will take away my Illuminati membership discount at WalMart.

.....
these debunkers who use this anti-semitism line are afraid that Israel is a likely suspect.

Joan, I'd think you people were every bit as retarded if, instead of Zionists, you blamed the "New Negro World Order". Except I'd call you a bunch of racist pricks instead of a bunch of anti-semitic idiots. Either way, I don't much care what race, religion, or culture you're targeting; what's important is that you're blaming a group of people who have been persecuted throughout history without even any circumstantial evidence, let alone anything solid. That's a clear indication of your biases, and the extent of your hateful insanity.

Israel had hundreds of spies just in their operations to penetrate our Drug Enforcement Agency offices.

These "hundreds of agents" come from the same place as the "90% of the population" which supports your twoof movement. Stop pulling numbers out of your ass.

There were a whole bunch of Israeli spies in the Hollywood FL area

Let me guess, Sascha Cohen and Jerry Seinfeld? No Joan, not every jewish person in the US us an Israeli spy. And no, they're not hiding under your bed either, you can stop checking.

Those "dancing Israelis" were celebrating, after all, and Netanyahu's first reaction was that 9/11 was "good" for Israel.

Listen, Red, you're not the brightest woman around so what you have to realize is that most people are in fact quite a bit more intelligent than you. In other words, we wouldn't do stupid things like that. It's obvious that YOU don't think about the consequences of your action, and would have no problem dancing around at the scene of a murder which you just committed. You might also go on public television and say that it's "good" that the person you just killed is in fact dead. The rest of us wouldn't do that. It's not generally a good idea.

because of their biases

There you go.

The anti-semitic angle that keeps coming up is so obviously a case of The Lady doth protest too much.

Antisemitism, while still alive and well, is pretended by the antisemites themselves to not exist.

I, for one, took the phrase "Never again" to heart.
